I am Harsharaj Parmar and I've designed this webspace to provide the details of my evolution as a researcher. Currently, I am a Ph.D. student in Prof. Aimy Bazylak's Thermofluids for Energy and Advanced Materials (TEAM) Lab at the University of Toronto. Our lab develops novel characterization and optimization strategies for efficient multiphase water management in proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells.
My research interests broadly span the fields of fluid mechanics and multiphase flows. In particular, I am inclined towards the characterization of multiphase flow in fuel cells using X-ray radiography and nanoscale imaging using scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM). Moreover, the numerical analysis of heat transfer and fluid flow within energy systems is of specific interest to me.
I completed my masters degree from Purdue University where I developed energy efficient thermal desalination systems under Prof. David Warsinger in his Warsinger Water Lab. Moreover, I've been previously affiliated with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, where I completed my undergraduate degree and Hanyang University, South Korea as an undergraduate researcher. At Hanyang University, I worked under Prof. Yoomin Ahn at the MEMS lab designing membraneless microfluidic fuel cells. More information on my coursework, independent projects and prior research can be found in the Academics and Research sections.
Apart from academics, I was associated with IIT Guwahati's FSAE club and took part in various institute-level technical events. I am an avid Formula 1 enthusiast who loves karting, working out and running.
